  1.      I am sure that everybody would like to be able to do a little more
  2. with the "Slideshow" of the "Caleidoscope" than what it does in its present
  3. state.
  4.      I played with it a little bit and I discovered that you can actually
  5. use it for a slideshow of your own with nice "text" slides and beautiful
  6. "Polyscope" pictures.
  7.      The "schedule" of the Slideshow is based on the file "script" which
  8. resides in the "eatext" directory. By modifying the contents of that file,
  9. you can have your own schedule with your own pictures!!
  10.      I am going to give you an example of what you can definitely do. You
  11. can modify this to your liking of course. The possibilities are endless.
  12.  
  13.      1) Print the file "script" of the "eatext" directory of the "Calei-
  14. doscope" disk in order to see the large number of possibilities of sche-
  15. duling the slideshow.
  16.      2) Prepare a disk containing the "Slideshow", the "Polyscope",the "Note-
  17. pad" from the Workbench. The disk should also contain the directory eatext
  18. from Caleidoscope with only the files ooo.txt and ealogo.txt in it.
  19.      3) Run the "Polyscope" and get two pictures from it by pressing
  20. "SHIFT D" (forget the double quotes here!!). Naturally, you can't have
  21. two pictures carrying the name "Poly.pic". Get one with that name, and
  22. then rename it poly1.plbm. Then get another one with the name Poly.pic
  23. and rename it poly2.plbm. Don't try to press "D" with the "Caps/Lock" on.
  24. It doesn't work here.
  25.      4)Now, activate the notepad and write the following text in it:

  27.       load text :eatext/ealogo
  28.       wait 5
  29.       pullup text lores
  30.       load lores :poly1
  31.       wait 5
  32.       scrollup lores text
  33.  
  34.       load text :eatext/ooo
  35.       wait 5
  36.       pullup text lores
  37.       load lores :poly2
  38.       wait 5
  39.       scrollup lores text
  40.       restart

  42.       Save the file with the above text as eatext/script. WAD!! (We Are
  43. Done).
  44.       All you have to do now is press: "Slideshow" and ... there it is.
  45.       Obviously, the text files eatext/ealogo and eatext/ooo are irre-
  46. levant to this particular show, but all the ingredients for a good Po-
  47. lyscope-Text show are here.
  48.       To write your own text files, use your notepad. This program does
  49. not work with text files from the Amiga Editor. Your own text files can
  50. of course reside in the same directory as that of the Slideshow. How-
  51. ever, the "script" file must reside in the "eatext" sub-directory.
  52.      You may use the spacebar to pause/continue the show.
  53.      To stop the show, use the spacebar and then go "CNTL-Left Amiga-Right
  54. Amiga" to reboot the Workbench. Don't try to add "Stop" at the end of
  55. the "script" file. You will most probably get a Guru Meditation number!!
  56.       You may use the "Space Bar" to pause/continue the show.
